The foundation ‘Maten van het VU-Orkest’
The foundation ‘Maten van het VU-Orkest’ is the friends foundation of the orchestra. VU-Orchestra Friends or (in Dutch) ‘Maten’ contribute to the things that make the VU Orchestra musically stronger: new double bass covers, for instance, so that these can be optimally protected while traveling. A contribution to a new timpani set that the orchestra has been saving up for for years. Or a little extra support to give a special concert on tour.
Behind the scenes, the foundation’s board – comprised of former members of the orchestra– forms an advisory commission to the orchestra’s board and ensures continuity in archiving and future plans.
Maten get priority for the best places in the concert halls, receive reductions on ticket prices and receive exclusive behind-the-scenes look. Throughout the years, the Maten receive updates on the orchestra’s musical endeavors.
