The Amsterdam VU-Orchestra concert in Bauska Culture hall June 1st was event which probably has not been and will not be happening soon again in Bauska. At the same time it was for free.

According received information, the orchestra is one of the best and largest amateur orchestra with 80 -120 participants. It usually performs late romanticism music and music of 20th century, there are number of Shostakovitsh and Mahler symphonies in repertory.
More than 80 young people visited Latvia to perform in four concerts in Riga and vicinity of it. Bauska Town Council and Bauska Town Hall with enthusiasm took an offer and invited orchestra to perform in Bauska. We would like to thank them for the opportunity.

The Culture hall was full and orchestra was able to capture the audience with first accords- from sounds of violins to drumbeats and cymbal crash. The introduction of each, even smallest musical instrument, was possible to notice in joint composition of all instruments. Young musician’s ductility under baton of conductor Daan Admiral was admirable and deserved a storm of applause.

Daan Admiral started his musical career as a brilliant oboe player. He graduated studies at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam with many prizes. Later he continued studies privately with the famous Russian conductor Kyrill Kondrashin. Particular adoration and flowers earned the first violin of orchestra Anna Giske. She started to learn to play violin in age of seven. Anna was a student of Amsterdam Conservatory.

The endless applause filled with enthusiasm and presented flowers asked for continuation. Only when conductor Daan Admiral closed his voluminous music-book and with expressive gesture indicated that the concert is over, audience was ready to leave. The musicians were staying in their places showing the respect to the responsive audience.
